What is CaptionCall?
CaptionCall is similar to a television captioning system. You dial and listen on your telephone as usual, but the captioning service quickly provides written captions on the phone’s screen of what your caller is saying. You don’t have to dial a different captioning service, just use the CaptionCall phone.
Can I use CaptionCall to make calls on my iPad?
Yes! If you have a wi-fi or cellular connection on your iPad, download “CaptionCall Mobile” at the Apple App Store. With the app, you can make and receive captioned telephone calls directly from your iPad.
Why is the CaptionCall service completely free?
CaptionCall funding is provided through the federal government’s Interstate Telecommunications Relay Service fund. This fund was established to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 to provide captioned telephone service at no cost to individuals who qualify. The phone is free and the caption service is free!
